The Wildlife Artist

Lonnie Adams was born, raised and went to school in Alice, Texas. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer for 8 years. He then spent the next 5 years as a Deputy Sheriff in the State of Oregon.

He started working in the oilfield upon his return to Alice in 1980, when he decided it was time to be closer to family. In his free time during hunting season, he guided hunts on South Texas ranches and quickly learned taxidermy to mount animals for friends.

Eventually, Lonnie left the oilfield to start a house remolding business. Over time he started building and repairing bows and furniture.

In 1987, administrators at Alice High School asked Lonnie to oversee the building trades class. In time that course evolved into the law enforcement class. Lonnie spent the next 28 years teaching at Alice High School, while simultaneously running a cabinet and taxidermy shop called L. Adams Woodsworks Plus Taxidermy.

In May 2015, Lonnie retired from Alice ISD to be a      full-time taxidermist at his shop and officially become Alice's premiere Wildlife Artist.
